DIN, ISO, ASTM and GB Standards: What Buyers Should Confirm
Standard numbers help define a product, but they do not replace a complete specification. Dimensions, materials, mechanical properties, testing and marking may be covered by different documents, and revisions can change requirements.
Do not assume interchangeability
Products described under DIN, ISO, ASTM or GB may appear similar yet differ in dimensions, across-flats sizes, thread series, test methods or marking. Confirm the standard number, revision, product grade and any project-specific additions.
When substitution is considered, ask for a documented comparison and obtain the designer or project authority’s approval before purchase.
